Lord & Taylor Unveils Two New Men’s Floors in Fifth Avenue Flagship Store

Doubling men’s footprint with an upgraded and modern experience

Tuesday, October 8 – New York, NYLord & Taylor unveiled today the expansion of its men’s department at the Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York. The expansion will double Lord & Taylor’s men’s footprint, spanning two floors within the store, signaling an increased focus on the overall men’s business for the retailer. The new department will offer customers a unique, well-edited assortment in apparel and accessories across all lifestyles as well as new brands, shop-inshops, and an upgraded shopping experience.

As part of the expansion, Lord & Taylor has taken over the entire 9th floor to build the modern contemporary business, in addition to the existing men’s department on the 10

th floor. The new floor will place a stronger emphasis on trends, a key driver for the modern contemporary consumer, while continuing to service the classic customer. The expansion will add a sophisticated yet youthful energy into the men’s department, with stark white perimeters, off-white tone-on-tone aisles, and metallic concrete tile. The floor will include a new lounge by the escalators for customers to relax, watch television, and browse curated trend presentations. Lord & Taylor is introducing a number of new brands that will be housed on the 9th floor, including G-Star Raw, John Varvatos Star USA, Vince Camuto, Victorinox, Bruun & Stengade, Rogue State, Seven Diamonds, True Religion, Grayers, Seven For All Mankind, Joe’s Jeans, Boss Green and Orange, and DL 1961.

The expansion will offer customers an updated, modern environment, while preserving the store’s rich heritage with a new area for Black Brown Lux, the company’s men’s private label. The new space was formerly the office of past Lord & Taylor Presidents and it features unique, hand carved pine paneling and woodwork that has since been restored in honor of Black Brown’s 5th anniversary.

The store’s 10th floor – focused on classic, tailored clothing, furnishings, and shoes – has been infused with a more sophisticated elegance that is fresh and inviting for customers. On this floor, customers can expect to see such new brands as Ted Baker, Bugatti, and Strellson, along with an expanded shoe department. In the addition to new flooring, ceiling, and lighting, the 10th  floor will feature modified perimeters, updated men’s furnishings, and a new space for dress shirts.

Both floors will feature clean lines and an open-floor concept in a loft-like environment. New, more natural lighting and modern fixtures will also be incorporated and add to the modern look and feel of the department. While the renovation will provide a cohesive environment across both floors with similar finishes, each floor will offer customers a distinct shopping environment with its own flavor. Both floors will be merchandised by lifestyle, enhancing the customer experience by creating a more seamless way to navigate the men’s department.
