New store concept: Saks OFF 5TH to open first store in the Netherlands

Saks OFF 5TH is coming to the Netherlands very soon. In the autumn of this year, the Netherlands’ first branch will open its doors in Rotterdam. Another store in Amsterdam will follow soon after. Saks OFF 5TH offers new fashion labels and premium designer brands at reduced OFF prices. The stores change their range every nine weeks, meaning that Saks OFF 5TH always has something new to offer its customers. A varied and ever-changing product range makes shopping at Saks OFF 5TH’s a unique experience – Dutch shoppers certainly have a lot to look forward to.

The arrival of Saks OFF 5TH in the Netherlands is part of the brand’s European launch, and stores will also be opening in five major German cities. This will coincide with the arrival of Saks OFF 5TH’s sister company, Hudson’s Bay, on the European continent. The Hudson’s Bay department store, which is originally Canadian, is set to open ten new branches in the Netherlands this year. The Netherlands’ two Saks OFF 5TH stores will be located in A-locations, in the city centres of Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Saks OFF 5TH in Rotterdam and Amsterdam

The Netherlands’ first Saks OFF 5TH store will be situated in the heart of Rotterdam at Hoogstraat 158, in the premises vacated by V&D. Hudson’s Bay will also open its doors there this summer. Saks OFF 5TH in Amsterdam will also be located in the heart of the city, in the newly renovated Kalverpassage shopping centre (formerly Kalvertoren) on Kalverstraat. Both stores will have a floor area of approximately 3,000 m2.

Desirable brands at attractive prices

According to Wayne Drummond, President of Saks OFF 5TH, the store’s success has been its skilful combination of three elements: exceptional value, a great store experience and desirable brands. ‘The combination of relevant brands, attractive prices and constant change and innovation is something that’s currently lacking in the Dutch retail scene,’ says Drummond. ‘We will attract consumers who want high-quality fashion at good prices. But at the same time, those consumers want to be surprised by what they find in store. Shopping should be a journey of discovery. We aim to inspire our customers, making them eager to discover what’s waiting for them in store next time they visit. And we deliver on that promise.’

For the fashionista and the design connoisseur

Saks OFF 5TH’s range, with the latest fashion labels and premium designer brands, will appeal to both the fashionista and the design connoisseur. The aim is to offer around 800 premium labels throughout Europe, all year round. As well as women’s fashion, the store’s range includes men’s fashion, footwear, accessories, home, sports and children’s fashion.

Personnel campaign

Starting this week, Saks OFF 5TH is launching a campaign to recruit staff for both new branches. There will be a total of 150 (part-time and full-time) positions in 2017, at all levels. Following its brand philosophy of Exceptional Value, Great Experience, Saks OFF 5TH is searching for ‘young, ambitious, energetic go-getters who can help us grow our brand, and who want to take our customers on a voyage of discovery, every day,’ according to their advertising.
