The Hudson’s Bay Company Foundation Spreads Holiday Cheer at SickKids with a Woodlands Winter Lounge for Families
TORONTO, ON (December 2, 2014) – The Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) Foundation is proud to partner with The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) for the second year to create a welcoming winter lounge for children and families spending time at the hospital during the holidays. Converting part of the hospital atrium into a home away from home, the winter lounge is a dedicated space for patients and their families to call their own, and feel cozy and comfortable no matter what holiday they are celebrating in the month of December.
The HBC Foundation winter lounge is set against a wintry woodland scene that captures the whimsy of the season. The space is adorned with twinkling Christmas trees, comfortable couches and festive décor, as well as a selection of classic holiday storybooks. “The holidays are a special time of year and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the spirit of the season,” says Arren Williams, Creative Director of Home for Hudson’s Bay. “The HBC Foundation Winter Lounge is meant to feel a little more home-like than hospital, and let families feel a little of the magic that is brought out during the holiday season through a warm and cozy space.”
“We often take for granted being able to celebrate the festive season in the comfort of our homes,” says Seanna Dempsey, Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, SickKids Foundation. “The generous support of our friends at the HBC Foundation in creating this cozy winter lounge will help staff at the hospital bring even more cheer to so many children and their families this holiday season.”
