Saks Fifth Avenue Joins New York Jets To Fight Hunger
New York, NY (November 4th, 2014)—Saks Fifth Avenue joins the New York Jets today in announcing the details of the 11th Annual Taste of the Jets event benefiting the Food Bank of New York City. The unique event combines football, food and a fashion hour featuring Jets players modeling Saks Fifth Avenue Collection looks. The Taste will be hosted at a new venue in Manhattan at which fans will experience the great food New York has to offer while teaming up with players and coaches to fight hunger in our community.

Kicking off Bye week, the Taste will take place on Monday, November 10, the day after the game at the MetLife Stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers, at a new venue: 4 World Trade Center. This location will also be the site of a special edition of Inside the Jets, the weekly, Monday night 98.7 ESPN radio show hosted by the voice of the Jets, Bob Wischusen, and featuring on-air player guests. Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Fashion Director Eric Jennings and VP DMM of Men’s Clothing Shawn Howell will co-moderate the fashion show.
Some elements of the Taste will remain the same, including the presence of Jets center Nick Mangold as one of the hosts. As Mangold says, “This is a great opportunity to spend time with the fans and it all goes to a good cause. It’s a neat event. I’m a big supporter and I will be in the future.”
This year, Mangold will be joined as co-host by his partner from the other side of the line of scrimmage, defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. A number of Nick’s and Mo’s teammates are also scheduled to appear, including Willie Colon, Quinton Coples, Demario Davis, Eric Decker, Nick Folk, Chris Johnson, Sheldon Richardson, Geno Smith, and Michael Vick. Many of these players will take to the runway as models in the Saks fashion show.
“The Jets Taste of the NFL event is a fantastic opportunity for fans to interact with our players and sample some great food,” said Jets President Neil Glat. “And the fact that it all supports the fight to end hunger makes it a can’t-miss night.”
As always, the main event will be the food. Restaurants such as Dos Caminos, Lavo, and Tau are among the 20 restaurants that will each serve a signature dish to the guests. The Cake Boss will provide desserts to top off the culinary portion of the night.
All net proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of New York City, which has been the city’s major hunger-relief organization to end hunger throughout the five boroughs for more than 30 years. The Food Bank takes a strategic, multifaceted approach that provides meals and builds capacity in the neediest communities, while raising awareness and engagement among all New Yorkers.
